How do contracts work at Just Eat?

Our goal is to ensure you make the most of your time as a Just Eat courier, and that you’re right for the job. That’s why we work with actual employment contracts, rather than hiring people on a self employed basis. Getting your contract right is important - for you and for us.

Before we get into choosing your contract type, let's take a look at how our courier contracts work:

• To work with us, you have to be 18 years old or above. If you’re currently under the age of 18, we hope you’ll apply to work with us when you’re able to.

• We offer different contracts which are defined by the minimum amount of working hours per week (e.g. 10h, 20h, etc.).

Which  contract type suits you best and what the requirements are you’ll discuss during the hiring process. Also you will have a probation period, do not worry - you will get the chance to ensure that we’re a good fit for one another.

What are the different employment types?

These are the different contract options:

• Contractual hours per week

  • 10 hours contract (minimum 10 hours per week)

  • 15 hours contract (minimum 15 hours per week)

  • 20 hours contract (minimum 20 hours per week)

  • 30 hours contract (minimum 30 hours per week)

  • 40 hours contract (minimum 40 hours per week)

You will also have the chance to work more than just your contractual hours per week  by choosing predefined extra shifts, what we call in our jargon “open shifts”. 

Depending on the contract type you chose you will have different options to create your weekly working schedule. You will find more information regarding the working times you find in the next section.

How are your working times going to look like?

Our business is linked to the gastronomy business, which requires us to work mostly when our beloved customers are hungry, meaning evenings and weekends. Depending on the weekly working hours you will have different scheduling options:

• You need to work every second Sunday, 

The rest of the time we ask for your availability and we will try to match your wishes with our business needs. 

How long is the probation period at Just Eat?

The probationary period is three  calendar months for our couriers.This way, we can ensure we're a good fit for one another – if not, either one of us can choose to end the contract with a notice period of 7 days.

Which documents do I need to submit?

In order to get started as a courier, you need to submit the following documents to our payroll partner:

• A copy of your passport or identification document

• If non-Swiss citizen, a  copy of your  work permit, a copy of your passport or identification document

• Driving license (only when you’ll be using a motorised vehicle that requires one)

• Vehicle card (only when you’ll be using a motorised vehicle that requires one)

• Official document with your Social security number 

• Official document with your Bank details 

We’ll also need some basic personal information to set up the contract, such as your name, home address and date of birth. Please note that you need to be a resident of Switzerland. 

What is your resignation policy?

After the probationary period, the Contract may be terminated by either Party:

• in the first employment year with one (1) month’s notice to the end of any calendar month

• from the second to the ninth year with two (2) months’ notice to the end of any calendar month
