As the market leader for online food delivery in Switzerland, Just Eat is committed to make positive changes in the industry. That’s why we work hard to create an engaging workplace and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome – whether they’re working in one of our offices or on the road.
Just Eat operates according to two business models: the restaurant either delivers the food themselves (and we take care of organising the orders for them) or we handle the delivery thanks to our fleet of drivers. And when it comes to our drivers, did you know Just Eat isn’t part of the gig economy? That’s right, we give our drivers contracts with a salary above the highest cantonal minimum wage and offer insurance, social security benefits and a 13th month salary. We pay our drivers hourly. Which means, they always get paid fairly for their time – regardless of the number of trips they make. Plus, they get 100% of all the tips they make.
In our Hubs, we have e-bikes our drivers can use for their shifts. Thanks to our in-house maintenance team, they’re kept in the best condition possible for a smooth and safe ride. If drivers prefer to use their own bikes, we offer extra mileage allowance to help them keep their wheels in top shape.
We also provide free backpacks, helmets, winter jackets and waterproof gear, so our drivers can hit the road safely at all times, and in all weather conditions.
Plus, we organise regular training for our drivers and Hub employees alike. This includes a programme on hygiene and safety measures for all, a certified first aid course for Hub employees and, for our Captains, training to carry out minor bike repairs and checks, and a “train-the-trainer” course giving them useful info on safe driving they can then share at onboarding with new recruits. At Just Eat, the health and safety of our drivers is our top priority.
We know everybody's name. Students looking for a part-time job, people wanting a career change, and those who enjoy spending time outside and staying active – we’ve got all kinds of drivers working for us and we couldn’t be more proud to see them riding throughout the country as part of our orange family.
